Fredrick A. Pompey, Jr.
Lead Pastor
Pastor Frederick A. Pompey, Jr., a native of Philadelphia, PA, currently serves as the senior Pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church.
New Calvary Baptist Church exists to glorify God by leading people into a growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ by sharing the love of God, empowering believers, evangelizing the lost and encountering our culture and community with the Gospel.
At an early age, Pastor Pompey accepted and confessed that the Lord Jesus Christ was his personal Savior. He fell in Iove with God, the things of a God and the work of the church. Although all his life he was told that he was called & chosen to preach the gospel, it wasn’t until age 16 that he himself realized the call upon his life was sure & evident. He was ordained as an Elder in the Lord’s Church on July 10, 2011 and installed as Senior Pastor on November 5, 2011.
Pastor Pompey received his high school diploma and completed coursework at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. He recently graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Missio Seminary, and he will begin his Master’s program in Divinity in the fall from the same institution.
Pastor Pompey has a heart from the community. He formed a non-profit called Calvary Community CDC, Inc. on June 26, 2022 where he serves as President and CEO. He, along with his church, provides community services throughout the year. Some of those community outreach projects include Liquid Love, which is the bottled water drive from January- June, Tina’s Touch Food Pantry, which is a monthly food drive, a community clothing bank titled Clarence’s Closet, and the yearly sock drive called Socktober in which they gather socks for the homeless for the winter. He also partners with John Welsh Elementary School and assists them throughout the year. Recently, he converted the downstairs area of the church into the Lewis L. Williams, Sr Community Center in honor of Deacon Lewis Williams, a dedicated member of New Calvary who passed away.
Pastor Pompey’s life goal is to live a life pleasing unto God and in service to God’s house, and God’s people.
